Zero Defect Quality is the standard applied to today’s products. Quality requirements are becoming increasingly stringent, and when a traceability or quality requirement is not met, your system must ensure that the undesired result is not repeated. It is imperative that quality escapes are quarantined and that effective corrective action be taken before the product leaves the factory floor.

The Cogiscan Defect and Repair Management application helps to effectively troubleshoot problem areas, and quickly apply corrective action to improve quality standards.

The system records and manages production defects that are identified from visual or automated inspection and test. The relevant details, including defect code, can be entered manually, selected from a pull-down list, or automatically acquired through machine communication.

In combination with the WIP Tracking and Route Control application, defective products can be branched automatically to a rework loop, ensuring that only the highest quality products are released to the customer. Reworked units can be allowed back in production at the appropriate operation, and details of the rework process, including any replacement parts can be recorded and stored in the historical database. This information can be used to produce traceability reports, and to identify areas for future process improvement.
