Product Flow Controller (PFC)

The Cogiscan Product Flow Controller (PFC) ensures 100% read rate of serialized boards moving down a conveyorized SMT line. The PFC can also ensure that production doesn’t proceed to the next step of the process unless all required elements have been validated. It can be used to realize several different benefits, depending on the specific application.
The PFC is connected to the SMEMA interface between a conveyor and machine (for example, a screen printer or a placement machine). It prevents assemblies from advancing to the next step unless all requirements are met, to ensure defect-free production at the downstream stations.
For WIP Tracking and Traceability applications, the PFC integrates with conveyor-mounted scanners to ensure the serial number is captured at each required scan point, 100% of the time, to ensure data integrity.
Software applications
PFC’s can be integrated with several Cogiscan software applications, including:
- Line Set-Up Control: ensure automatic validation of all materials.
- WIP Tracking and Route Control: track the physical location of assemblies while confirming that each one progresses through the required sequence of operations in the correct order.
- Traceability: trace all materials involved in building a specific product.
- MSD Control: ensure compliance to IPC/Jedec J-STD-033 for proper handling of Moisture Sensitive Devices.
