RFID Smart Feeder

Eliminate human errors, reduce changeover time, and validate line set-up

The Cogiscan RFID Smart Feeder system enables closed-loop set-up validation for feeders and components on SMT placement machines. It tracks feeders and components on and off the placement machine without human intervention.

The system can be retrofitted to existing machines in the field. “Dumb” feeders can easily and economically be converted to “Smart” feeders.

A Cogiscan RFID tag is attached to each feeder, and communicates with an antenna array mounted on the feeder bank of the placement machine, removable feeder banks, and/or the offline feeder storage rack. RFID tags and antenna communicate to perform set-up validation, provide real-time location and usage information on and off the placement machine.

The RFID Smart Feeder system is compatible with all major brands and models of pick and place equipment, and can be integrated with third-party software.

Software applications
The RFID Smart Feeder can be integrated with Cogiscan software applications to track, trace and control feeders and components on and off the placement machine.

Typical applications include:

• Line Set-Up Control: ensure automatic validation of all materials.
• Inventory Tracking: track the physical location and remaining quantity of all materials.
• Traceability: trace all materials involved in building a specific product.
